The Situation

AME Trade Ltd held the 9th edition of the Africa PPP Conference & Exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa which showcased more bankable African PPP projects, brought updates on projects featured at the 8th edition, and dedicated more time to one-on-one meetings for closing funding gaps. The Conference included various sectors for PPPs, including energy, water, housing, agriculture, transport and manufacturing.

The Solution

Africa PPP Advisory was tasked with assisting the conference, providing insights on our experiences with PPPs in Africa, and delivering sessions to the attendees of the conference.

Our Assistance

In order to assist with the conference, we delivered a session titled ‘Closing the funding gap – Financial Mechanisms’, which included topics on alternative funding, project bonds, mobilising finance and the role of bi-lateral donors. Another session delivered by us was titled ‘Revenue from tourism can substantially add to the GDP of a country’, with topics on Eco-Tourism PPPs, developing heritage sites, airport development and creating tourism PPP frameworks. As well as this, we also acted as speakers and panelists on industry expert panel discussions; this allowed us to expand on key questions, issues and opportunities for PPPs in Africa.
